Link Checker Checks And Manages Links
by habits on Jan.31, 2012, under investment
Link Checker checks the links in your website, updates them and manages bookmarks. It renews broken links by finding the new URLs and updating the addresses. It also restores the names, keywords, descriptions and meta tags.
You can get a list of dead and broken links by running the validation checker. 404 errors mean the links are dead. Dead links are marked with red icons. Yellow icons mean the links have 301 or 302 errors because they have been moved to a new domain. Any links that appear on the validation list with an underscore show pages that have been moved or have major changes in content. If you are running a bookmark validation and need to step away, you can stop the run, save it to file and start the run from the same point at a later time.
Link Checker handles bookmarks by integrating the link manager feature with the most popular browsers. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Opera are all compatible with the link management tool. You can find bookmarks speedily by searching with keywords. It is possible to search two different databases as the same time. Wild cards and the AND operator combined produce broad search results. The use of quotation marks, OR, and the AND NOT produce more refined search results. Restrict searches to specified folders and directories for even quicker results.
Bookmarks can be exported, printed and password protected with the manager facility. Different formats can be used for exporting bookmarks. There is an option for creating a template in HTML or XML. There is an even wider choice of export templates for people who can write basic script.
Two different databases can be loaded at the same time. If you want to add passwords, you could give each database a different password. Another alternative is to make one database public and password protect the other.
Bookmarks can be printed. After you run a search, select the search results to print or simply select the required database. Then choose the font, margin settings, and fields you want in the preview window.
Link Checker has some even more refined options. For color blind users there is an option to change the icon settings. For pages that change very frequently, just opt to exclude them from the validation run.
