· Remove any documentation from your car which identify where your home is – your home might be the thieves’ next target. Don’t leave important information in your car, including ID cards, driving licence or registration papers.

· Install a quality electric alarm in your car. A high quality, loud alarm is a good deterrent to a thief. Make sure you activate it every time you park, even if it’s just for a few moments.

 

· Prevent theft of your licence plates by securing them with tamper resistant one way star head screws

· Always remove the key out of the ignition and lock the car when you leave it, even if it is for a moment or two, e.g. when fueling up. Your car and belongings can be stolen in an flash.

 

· Don’t leave spare keys hidden in your car. Thieves know all the hiding places.

 

· Keep your keys in a safe place at home. Never have them in an obvious place. Never have your keys on your desk at work or in easily accessible places like in your handbag or on a canteen table.
